Today we celebrate (or not – we won’t judge) those feelings that are squishy, smooshy and well, pretty much the greatest in whatever capacity you have them in your life. Be it friends, family or your specific special someone, love is a wonderful thing! Sure, the holiday is commercialized, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take time to tell people you care – any day, everyday, even today.
And while we’re at it – we love you, readers! Here are some of our favorite love quotes:
“And since you know what a tree-climbing weenie I am, I think it’s pretty clear that I’m willing to do anything to get her to talk to me. Man, I’ll dive after her into a chicken coop full of poop if that’s what it takes. I’ll ride my bike all the stinkin’ way to school for the rest of eternity if it means being with her.” ― Wendelin Van Draanen, Flipped
“’How about a kiss, Saumensch?’ He stood waist-deep in the water for a few moments longer before climbing out and handing her the book. His pants clung to him, and he did not stop walking. In truth, I think he was afraid. Rudy Steiner was scared of the book thief’s kiss. He must have longed for it so much. He must have loved her so incredibly hard. So hard that he would never ask for her lips again and would go to his grave without them.” ― Markus Zusak, The Book Thief
“When I think of you, I think of future stuff. I think of this is it and I’m not supposed to think this is it at my age. I don’t look at you and think nice. I look at you and think, oh my God, I want to hold her and never let her go.” ―Melina Marchetta, Saving Francesca
“I’m in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we’re all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we’ll ever have, and I am in love with you.” ― John Green, The Fault in Our Stars
“I love you so much more now than twenty minutes ago that there cannot be comparison. I love you so much more now than when you opened your hovel door, there cannot be comparison. There is no room in my body for anything but you. My arms love you, my ears adore you, my knees shake with blind affection. My mind begs you to ask it something so it can obey. Do you want me to follow you for the rest of your days? I will do that. Do you want me to crawl? I will crawl. I will be quiet for you or sing for you, or if you are hungry, let me bring you food, or if you have thirst and nothing will quench it but Arabian wine, I will go to Araby, even though it is across the world, and bring a bottle back for your lunch.” – William Goldman, The Princess Bride
